Education & Training

I have always been involved in the performing arts, joining the profession playing an urchin in Lionel Bart’s musical Oliver! I then trained as an actor / dancer / musical theatre performer, becoming a professional director / choreographer / movement director, and then sharing my experience as a teacher in drama schools in London, the UK and internationally. I became a specialist in movement for actors, based on the work of Rudolf Laban, and an expert in dance research, in particular historical dances used in actor training. My first formal dance training was in tap for musical theatre, and as a choreographer I continued to learn jazz, ballet, folk, ballroom, contemporary and many diverse dance styles as productions required – as bizarre as the Icelandic Viki-Vaki, and as exotic as Cambodian Khmer court dance!
